16.1.2  Other chemical applications

Other chemical applications during the year involved the routine spraying of buildings and sheds for spiders with Deltamethrin and Permethrin. White tail spiders have occasionally been found in and around the houses.  Arsenic powder was applied to active colonies of termites. Griffith Pest Control performed these applications of chemical.

Treated timber was used for the Armco guardrails installed on the bridge this season.  Following inspections with the Road Traffic Authority (RTA) of significant termite infestations of softwood posts supporting bridge railings, steel Armco guardrail posts with designed breakaway at ground level are being trialled along MR321 by the RTA.

Fruit fly baits were purchased and distributed to tenants to comply with the New South Wales Agriculture baiting program.

16.1.3  On-farm chemical usage

During the Coleambally LWMP landholder survey, questions were asked regarding chemical usage on-farm.  However, the data collected through the survey on chemical usage is only indicative and has, therefore, not been included in this report.  This data along with previous survey data has been submitted to the EPA.
