7.1  Groundwater usage within CICL's operational area

Apart from CICL’s Works Licence, DLWC has issued 54 groundwater licences to landholders within CICL’s operational area. Groundwater usage is managed by DLWC through a set of licence conditions. The conditions for the Works Licence and those for the groundwater licences are different, creating a large inequity in the reporting requirements (also see section 19.3.1).

The total groundwater usage for the 2000/2001 season in CICL’s operational area was 57,757 ML. The usage for this year is considerably lower than the previous two years. The total groundwater usage for the past three seasons is presented in Table 7.1. The location of groundwater bores in the area is shown in Figure 7.1.
